New MnCUN Marketing Awards Program Accepting Applications

New in 2017, the Minnesota Credit Union Network has introduced a statewide credit union marketing awards program. Open to all MnCUN member credit unions, the awards will recognize outstanding programs in the areas of branding, community impact and outreach, digital advertising, video, and complete campaigns.

“Minnesota credit unions are doing remarkable things to grow brand awareness and market to members and nonmembers alike,” said MnCUN Director of Communications Andrea Molnau. “We at the state trade association want to recognize their efforts and highlight the best of the best.”

Applications will be open through November 3 and winning credit unions will be recognized at a luncheon this winter. More information and an online application are available on the Marketing Awards page of the network website.

Minnesota Credit Unions Giving Back Over 12,000 Volunteer Hours on CU Forward Day

On Monday, Oct. 9, 37 Minnesota credit unions and partners will dedicate 12,224 volunteer hours in 80 Minnesota communities, with an estimated impact on more than 33,574 people.

CU Forward Day, formerly Plus it Forward Day, is held annually on Columbus Day, a federal holiday the second Monday in October. Credit union employees will participate in events ranging from building for Habitat for Humanity; preparing meals for homeless youth; outdoor clean up events; free document shred days; hosting a children’s book drive; packing food for Feed My Starving Children; and providing random acts of kindness for community members.

“As not for profit financial institutions, Minnesota’s credit unions work every day to improve their members financial lives,” said Minnesota Credit Union Network President & CEO Mark Cummins. “And they also work for their communities. Not because they have to, but because service is a core element of the social mission of credit unions. The collaborative effort on CU Forward Day is a perfect example of credit unions fulfilling their ‘people helping people’ philosophy.”

Follow the events on social media using #cuforwardday.
