Minnesota’s Credit Union Spread Kindness, Volunteer on CU Forward Day

On Monday, 37 Minnesota credit unions and partners dedicated 12,224 volunteer hours in 80 Minnesota communities, with an estimated impact on more than 33,574 people.

CU Forward Day, is held annually on Columbus Day, a federal holiday the second Monday in October. This year, nearly 2,000 credit union employees participated in events ranging from building for Habitat for Humanity; preparing meals for homeless youth; outdoor clean up events; free document shred days; hosting a children’s book drive; packing food for Feed My Starving Children; and providing random acts of kindness for community members.

“We know Minnesota’s credit unions work every day to improve their communities,” said MnCUN President & CEO Mark Cummins. “CU Forward Day has become a way for credit unions to do good while demonstrating the powerful impact of the cooperative credit union movement and the people helping people philosophy.”

For more information, view the CU Forward Day webpage. Credit unions interested in participating in 2018 should contact MnCUN Director of Communications Andrea Molnau or Communications Specialist Laura Whittet.
