Today, Thursday, October 20, is International Credit Union (ICU) Day® and credit unions across the state, the country, and the globe are celebrating not-for-profit financial cooperatives, those who have dedicated their lives to the movement, and the members they serve. Gov. Mark Dayton has signed a proclamation declaring today as Credit Union Day in Minnesota.
The ultimate goal of ICU Day is to raise awareness about the great work that credit unions are doing around the world and give members the opportunity to get more involved. Credit unions and associations throughout the world celebrate the day with fundraisers, open houses, contests, picnics and parades.
Send information about ICU Day activities at your credit union to MnCUN Communications Specialist Laura Whittet and they will be included on the Minnesota Credit Union News Channel online and distributed to MnCUN media contacts throughout the state.

Business Development Program
Through one-on-one assistance, MnCUN Director of Business Development, Kris Jacobsen, assists credit unions in tackling today's challenges and tomorrow's opportunities. Jacobsen works with Minnesota credit unions to help them operate effectively through strategic planning facilitation, training sessions for volunteers and managers, one-on-one consultations with credit union officials, and acts as a liaison between member credit unions and financial regulators.

Compliance and Audit Services
MnCUN’s Compliance & Audit Consultant Jennifer Stedt is a CUNA-certified Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Specialist (BSACS). Stedt joined the Network in December 2014, and is a certified compliance officer with 20 years of financial institution experience in a variety of positions. Specifically, she has experience in risk management, internal auditing, training, compliance and operations.

OnApproach has announced it will be hosting, in collaboration with Best Innovation Group, the 4th annual Analytics & Financial Innovation (AXFI) Conference in Minneapolis, June 11 through 14, 2017.
The 2017 Analytics and Financial Innovation Conference will focus on providing education and insight into Big Data, Analytics and innovative technologies like artificial intelligence and blockchain. The goal of the conference will be to bring credit unions together to explore ways to network and collaborate on ideas and experiences to figure out how to best leverage these trends for the benefit of the credit union model.
The AXFI Conference started four years ago with a small group of technology enthusiasts. It has since grown to over 250 credit unions professional ranging from analysts to CEOs and has become the premier event for analytics and innovation in the Credit Unions industry.
The 2017 Analytics and Financial Innovation Conference registration is now live and open to all interested parties within the credit union industry. More information and registration is available online.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2017 Family Involvement Council (FIC) scholarship program. This year, the council will be awarding $10,000 in the form of four $1,000 and 12 $500 scholarships to a total of 16 credit union members. Any member of a Minnesota Credit Union Network affiliated credit union pursuing post-secondary education in the fall 2017/spring 2018 is eligible to apply.
Applications are being accepted online with a submission deadline of Feb. 1, 2017.
Members from the following credit unions have applied for a 2017 FIC scholarship so far:
Each year at the MnCUN Annual Meeting, the FIC holds a silent auction with items and monetary donations donated by Minnesota’s credit unions and businesses. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the silent auction go toward the scholarship programs.
The FIC has various materials available to help credit unions promote the 2017 scholarship program to members. Visit the scholarships section for marketing materials and best practices to promote the program.
The FIC, a committee of the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation, strives to build credit union brand awareness and strengthen member relationships through their scholarship program. Since its inauguration in 1997, the FIC has benefited 303 credit union members with $166,500 in scholarships.
