Meet the MnCUN Marketing Awards Program Judges

New in 2017, the Minnesota Credit Union Network has introduced a statewide credit union marketing awards program. Open to all MnCUN member credit unions, the awards will recognize outstanding programs in the areas of branding, community impact and outreach, digital advertising, video, and complete campaigns. MnCUN is pleased to welcome three outstanding marketing professionals to judge the inaugural awards.


The 2017 Minnesota Credit Union Marketing Awards judges include:

  Madeline Anderson-Balmer - Madeline is an award winning marketer herself, currently sitting on the Executive Committee for CUNA’s Marketing & Business Development Council. She has judged that organization’s Diamond Awards for three years, as well as being asked to judge the Excellence in Airport Marketing, Communications, and Customer Service Awards in 2016 and 2017.  
  Ava Beilke - Ava founded Paragon Social LLC with the desire to help individuals and small businesses excel in social media. A firm believer that defined goals are the strongest foundation for any online presence, Ava works endlessly with her clients to ensure that the ‘why’ is answered before ‘what’. Her social media marketing experience ranges from small grass roots efforts to global brand campaigns.
  Patty Voje - Patty is founder of Spot Communications, a woman owned, strategic marketing agency. She is St. Paul proud and serves on the board of the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce. With over 20 years of agency experience, her career focus is brand strategy and identity development. Patty has executed brand strategies for clients like Allina Health and 3M. Patty is also an accomplished painter and exhibits both locally and nationally.


Applications will be open through November 3 and winning credit unions will be recognized at a luncheon this winter. More information and an online application are available on the Marketing Awards page of the network website.

Register Now for The Nov. 30 MnCUN Life Simulation

Join the Minnesota Credit Union Network for a Life Simulation on November 30 at the Maplewood Community Center. The event is designed to help sensitize credit union employees, volunteers, and management to the financial needs of low-wage working families.


During the three-hour activity, participants will be grouped into “families” struggling to make ends meet in a simulated month of four twenty minute weeks. Each participant will play a unique role within the family. Throughout the exercise, attendees will encounter events & financial crises faced by many low-income Americans.


This free event will be hosted by the Minnesota Credit Union Network young professionals group, The Crew, and supported by the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation. Credit union employees of all ages and at any stage in their professional journey are encouraged to attend.


The Life Simulation will take the place of the fall Crew and Financial Education Peer-to-Peer (P2P) sessions. More information and event registration is available on the MnCUN event calendar online.

MnCUN Member Resource Available: PolicyWorks Webinar

As a dues supported service in 2017, the Minnesota Credit Union Network has partnered with PolicyWorks to provide your credit union complimentary access to PolicyAid - an online policy resource which contains over 80 sample policies, and is updated quarterly to help you keep your policies current. In addition, members of MnCUN receive access to free PolicyAid webinars.


The newest webinar, Account Consideration for Foreign Nationals, is now available on the Professional Development page of the Network website.

Submit 2017 CU4Kids Donations, Budget for 2018 Activities

Throughout the year, credit unions take part in Credit Unions for Kids major events and fundraising. Opportunities range from the Chain of Hearts campaign, during which credit union frontline staff request donations from members in exchange for a paper heart displayed in the credit union lobby, to the Mingle for Miracles casino night at the Minnesota Credit Union Network Annual Meeting, an event supported solely by credit union and vendor sponsors. Many credit unions choose to support Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare through chocolate sales, cookouts, and other fundraisers throughout the year as well.

Please remember Credit Unions for Kids as you enter budgeting season.  More information about CU4Kids fundraising opportunities can be found on the bundle flyer online. Remember to also submit 2017 funds to the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation so that they can be included in the fundraising total for the year.

Credit Unions for Kids is a collaboration of credit unions, chapters, leagues, and business partners engaged in fundraising activities to benefit Children’s Miracle Network-affiliate hospitals. All money raised through Minnesota’s Credit Unions for Kids program supports Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare, helping kids with disabilities and chronic conditions. Gillette is based in St. Paul, with clinics located around the state. Credit Unions for Kids is a national program.
