Crew Ambassador & Advisory Group Applications Now Open

The Crew is a group for young professionals – under 40 years old - working in the credit union movement in Minnesota. The Minnesota Credit Union Network hosts special sessions for Crew members at major MnCUN events as well as standalone Crew education sessions, happy hours, and volunteer opportunities throughout the year. The Minnesota Credit Union Network is looking for the next Crew Ambassador and seeking members for the Crew Advisory Group.

 

  • The Crew Ambassador serves as a leader for his or her peers in the Crew. This person helps represent The Crew and other young credit union professionals in Minnesota at MnCUN events and other professional development opportunities. The Crew Ambassador must be able to commit to attending Crew events and MnCUN major events throughout the year, have a letter of recommendation from their Manager/CEO, and be interested in leading the Crew Advisory Group. Apply Online.

  • The Crew Advisory Group includes up to 15 Crew members who meet quarterly at the MnCUN office to help plan and promote Crew events. Applicants must be able to commit to attend hour-long meetings on a quarterly basis, have a letter of recommendation from their Manager/CEO, and be interested in improving the Crew. Apply Online. 

The 2018 MnCUN Crew Ambassador application and the Crew Advisory Group Application are open now through Wednesday, December 20.  Applications for the Crew Ambassador position you will automatically be considered for the Crew Advisory Group unless otherwise noted in the application.

Financial & Audit Professionals Grant Application Now Open

With the support of a generous contribution from Rich Gabrielson, certified public accountant (CPA), the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation (MnCUF) established the Financial & Audit Professionals Grant Fund in late 2014. Gabrielson retired from CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP at the end of 2013, after working with Minnesota credit union supervisory committees, boards of directors and management throughout his 36-year career. 

 

Funding from the Financial & Audit Professionals Grant program is intended to cover or defray the costs for credit union professionals and/or volunteers to attend timely and accurate educational events, conferences and seminars on financial and audit-related topics.

 

Financial & Audit Professionals Grant applications are being accepted through Thursday, Nov. 30.

 

Reputable course providers include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Credit Union Conference
  • Association of Credit Union Internal Auditors (ACUIA)
  • National Association of Credit Union Supervisory & Audit Committees (NACUSAC)
  • Credit Union National Association (CUNA)
  • Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN)
  • Credit Union Executive Society (CUES)

This contribution provides up to a total of $2,000 in annual grant funding. Eligible credit unions must be headquartered in the state of Minnesota, and individuals are only eligible to receive Financial & Audit Professionals Grant Fund dollars, with a maximum of $1,000, every four years. Grants will be available on an annual basis until the fund is exhausted.

 

Grant recipients will be notified within two weeks of the MnCUF Board’s selection. Grant funds must be used by Dec. 31 of the following year, and recipients must submit proof of registration as well as a grant follow-up form.

Save the Date: Scholarship Council Dice & Ice Event

Save the date for the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation Scholarship Council’s 2nd Annual Dice & Ice indoor event. Compete with a team in a variety of dice games including Life Size 6-5-4, Dice Bags and Horse Races to help raise $20,000 for scholarships for credit union members.

 

The FSC, a committee of the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation, works to enhance the future of the credit union movement by providing financial awareness solutions through its annual scholarship program. Since 1997, the FSC has reviewed 14,905 applications and awarded $176,500 in scholarships to 315 credit union members.

 

The FSC Dice & Ice event will be held on Friday, Jan. 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Vannelli’s by the Lake in Forest Lake. During the event, teams will compete in a variety of dice games. With questions, contact Bridget Petersen by email or by phone at 651-641-2256.
