Bureau Releases Small Entity Compliance Guide for Payday Lending Rule

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Bureau) recently released a small entity compliance guide summarizing the payment-related provisions of the Payday, Vehicle and Certain High-Cost Installment Loans Rule (Payday Lending Rule). The guide can be found on the Bureau’s website. MORE

 

Minnesota Credit Union Network Pilots Mentorship Program with The Women’s Leadership Network

MnCUN is piloting a brand-new Mentorship program in partnership with the Women’s Leadership Network. The program is designed to build, grow, and support professionals and inspire commitment to a career in the credit union movement. MORE

 

Foundation Board Approves Increase in Small Credit Union Grants; Updates Criteria

Credit unions that meet specific criteria can apply for expedited reimbursement of professional development opportunities through the Small Credit Union Grant Program. MORE

Dice & Ice Event Raises over $13,500 for Scholarships

On Friday, February 22, the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation Scholarship Council (FSC) held its third annual Dice & Ice Event, raising scholarship funds for Minnesota’s credit union members. Supporters of the event included 31 credit unions, 8 vendors and the Minnesota Credit Union Network. MORE

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR THE 2019 ANNUAL MEETING APRIL 25 - 26, 2019

This year’s annual meeting will take place on April 25 – 26 at the Radisson Blu Mall of America.

These 2 days will feature guest speakers, educational sessions, networking opportunities, the MnCUN Business Meeting, the state’s largest credit union vendor exhibit hall, and a CU4Kids Karaoke for Kids event. MORE

 

OPEN YOUR EYES TO A CREDIT UNION LAUNCHED JAN. 29; INITIAL NUMBERS INDICATE A SOLID START

Minnesota Credit Unions launched Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union on January 29th.  The campaign is designed to raise consumer consideration of credit unions as a category. The campaign’s digital-first strategy positions research-proven messages to disprove consumer myths associated with the ability to join and access to money. Nearly 60% of Minnesota Credit Unions contributed financially to the Awareness Fund, helping Minnesota be the first state in the nation to launch the initiative.  MORE


LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

The pace has picked up at the Capitol and Government Affairs staff have been working on moving the primary piece of the Network’s legislative agenda, a bill to amend our state statutes on credit union mergers and conversions, through the process. MORE

 

 OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE AUDITOR RELEASES FINDINGS ON MNLARS

The Legislative Auditor’s office released a report on the troubled MNLARS system late last week and found multiple failures in both the Department of Vehicle Services (DVS) and the state IT Department’s (MNIT) planning and execution of the MNLARS rollout. MORE

 

UPDATED BSA/AML TRAINING AVAILABLE

2019 Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & OFAC training is now available on the Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN) website. MORE
