Minnesota will be the first state to launch the Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union Consumer Awareness Campaign. The campaign, launching throughout Minnesota beginning Jan. 28, is a groundbreaking, research-based effort to grow awareness of credit unions as the best financial partner for American consumers. The Minnesota Credit Union Network celebrated a successful year for the WINcentive Savings program with a lucky $5,000 annual prize winner from St. Paul Federal Credit Union. MORE

 
JAN. 31 MEMBERSHIP DEADLINE APPROACHING

Minnesota Credit Union Network membership packets were mailed to all Minnesota credit unions in mid-December. Packets included dues invoices, CUNA and MnCUN's Power of Association information, and details about the additional funds for 2019. Membership renewal should be completed by Thursday, Jan. 31. Last Friday, the official call for candidates for the Minnesota Credit Union Network Board of Directors was sent via email.

The election will be conducted exclusively by mail ballot. Three (3) seats are up for election in 2019: one in the at-large category (3-year term), and two in the 10,000 or fewer credit union member’s category (3-year terms). MORE

 The Minnesota Credit Union Network is thankful to the first 10 credit unions to pay their Minnesota Credit Union Network and dues for 2019. Dues packets were mailed to all credit unions in mid-December, with a deadline of Thursday, Jan. 31. MORE

On Friday, Governor Tim Walz appointed Steve Kelley as the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Commerce. The incoming Governor also appointed Commissioners for the Department of Revenue, Employment and Economic Development, Labor and Industry, Public Safety and Veterans Affairs. MORE

On December 31, 2018, PolicyWorks updated the following:

  •  Servicemembers Civil Relief Act Policy – Updated rent threshold and added language regarding requiring credit unions to verify a servicemember’s military status.
  • Truth in Lending Act Policy – Annual transaction exemption threshold updated.
  • Appraisal and Evaluation Policy – Threshold for higher-priced mortgage loans exempt from appraisal requirements updated. MORE🔒

FOURTH CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS AFFIRMS DISMISSAL OF ADA LAWSUIT

The Federal Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit (the “Court”) ruled in favor of Department of Labor Federal Credit Union in a lawsuit alleging the credit union’s website was not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”). MORE🔒
