MnCUN Meets with Caucus Leaders Ahead of Election

8/21/2024

As part of our efforts to build bipartisan awareness and support candidates that champion credit unions ahead of the elections in November, Minnesota Credit Union Network staff have recently hosted events with caucus leaders from the House DFL and House GOP to discuss credit union issues and present support from the Network’s political action committee.

DFL Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman, and GOP Minority Leader Lisa Demuth came to the MnCUN office to discuss what they are hearing on the campaign trail and hear directly from credit unions about what challenges they face and how they continue to serve their members and communities.
“With many retiring legislators and competitive seats across the State, developing relationships and educating candidates is vital in ensuring we have a voice when decisions are being made when the legislature returns next year,” said MnCUN Chief Advocacy Officer Ryan Smith. “The Minnesota Credit Union Network is continuing our tradition of being the strongest advocate for Minnesota credit unions by engaging in a bipartisan way with a wide range of candidates from all corners of the state, ensuring that we have genuine partners at the State Capitol, regardless of the outcomes of the election."

The 2024 election is on Tuesday, November 5th and one US Senate seat and all of Congress and the state House will be on the ballot. If you have questions about where the candidates in your community stand on issues impacting the industry, check out our 2024 Credit Union Voter Guide.
