According to the NCUA, credit unions in Minnesota are now serving nearly 2.1 million members. In 2019, MnCUN embarked on a goal to increase the percentage of Minnesotans belonging to a credit union to 50% by 2030. MnCUN analysis of NCUA shows that credit union membership continues to increase, and as of June 2022, is 35.5%. This week, as part of the Minnesota Credit Union Network’s annual Hike the Hill, credit union staff and volunteers from across the state are meeting with the Minnesota Congressional delegation to discuss issues of importance to the credit union industry.
"Hike the Hill is a critical part of the Network’s federal legislative advocacy,” MnCUN’s Chief Advocacy and Engagement Officer Mara Humphrey said. “Meeting with elected officials and their staff to share the effects of policy decisions have on credit union members really helps to personalize the issues." During Hike the Hill, two pieces of legislation of significant interest to credit unions were introduced in Congress:

Credit Union Professionals to Participate in Second Year of Tristate Mentorship Match Program9/12/2022
73 participants from three states were selected to participate this year’s Tristate Mentor Match - a 12-month formal mentorship program developed in partnership by the Minnesota Credit Union Network, Montana’s Credit Unions and the Wisconsin Credit Union League. The program is designed to build, grow, and support professionals and inspire commitment to a career in the credit union movement. “Mentoring is a cost-effective, valuable tool for developing the credit union movement’s most important asset, our people,” said Mark Cummins, President of the Minnesota Credit Union Network. “We are thrilled at the success of the first year of the collaboration, and are pleased to see even more participants in this second year of the program.” 37 pairs will meet monthly for the next year, supported by a program guide, check-ins from league staff, and additional resources to help maximize the experience for both the mentee and mentor. Congratulations to the Minnesota Credit Union Network participants:
The Tristate Mentorship Match is sponsored in part by Alloya Corporate Federal Credit Union, Corporate Central Credit Union, and Millennium Corporate Credit Union.
