Privacy and Credit Reporting Laws For Your Members Residing in California: Earlier this year, California enacted three laws which may extend to members of Minnesota credit unions residing in the state. 

​CFTC Digital Asset Fraud Resource: The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has published an online resource for fraud and market manipulation in the “spot” digital commodity markets to prevent financial grooming frauds referred to as “pig butchering” and other types of digital commodities fraud.

Announcing Details for the 2025 Chain of Hearts Fundraiser

The Minnesota Credit Unions for Kids Committee invites all credit unions to participate in the 2025 Chain of Hearts fundraiser Jan. 2 to Feb. 28, 2025*. ​

​The initiative benefits Minnesota and western Wisconsin’s Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Gillette Children’s. Gillette Children’s treats kids with disabilities and complex medical conditions in all Minnesota counties and beyond.
During the fundraiser, credit union staff, members, and local businesses are encouraged to purchase paper links and hearts that are connected and hung in lobbies to help illustrate the "people helping people" philosophy of credit unions. All proceeds benefit Gillette Children's Hospital.

​​To participate, credit unions simply fill out the registration form by Friday, December 13, 2024 and CU4Kids will provide Chain of Hearts materials at no cost. With questions, reach out to Director of Engagement, Xiong Lee

*Although these are the campaign dates, credit unions may participate during any time frame that best fits their calendar.

Support the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation on Give the Max Day

​The Minnesota Credit Union Foundation (MnCUF) is excited to participate in the annual Give to the Max Day tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 21.

MnCUF provides grants, community partnerships, professional development and disaster relief to help the state's credit unions and communities prosper and thrive.

Now in its 16th year, Give to the Max Day has become Minnesota’s annual giving holiday, raising nearly $330 million in its first 15 years. Every year, thousands of organizations and individuals generate donations and excitement for Minnesota causes working to improve the quality of life for all Minnesotans. 

​Each donation through GiveMN.org qualifies MnCUF for additional grants from the Give to the Max Day prize pool, thanks to the continued generosity of the Bush Foundation. On Nov. 21, Give to the Max Day, GiveMN will award:
  • $500 Early Giving Golden Tickets daily on Nov. 1-20
  • $500 Golden Ticket prizes every 15 minutes on Nov. 21
  • $1,000 Hourly Golden Ticket prizes hourly on Nov. 21
  • $6,000 Power Hour Prizes, shared among the top three organizations based on the amount raised between 10:00–10:59 a.m. and 10:00–10:59 p.m.

Thank You for Participating in CU Forward Day 2024!

The results are in! On Monday, October 14, 58 credit unions and partners spent over 18,000 hours supporting 2,000 community organizations across the state. Additionally, credit unions donated nearly $80,000 as part of CU Forward Day.

​​Credit unions and partners participated in a variety of volunteer opportunities in Minnesota:
  • Hosted clothing, donation, food, and pet supply drives,  
  • Committed random acts of kindness, 
  • Offered document shredding, seasonal flu shots, financial education presentations to members, 
  • Made tie blankets, put together baskets and meal kits, and
  • Provided lunch and treats to police and fire departments.

MnCUN extends sincere appreciation to credit union volunteers for embracing the people helping people philosophy for CU Forward Day!

MnCUN Celebrates Tommy Rempfer's 25th Anniversary

Tommy Rempfer is celebrating a significant milestone of 25 years with the Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN), where he serves as the Controller. Tommy has been a cornerstone of the organization throughout his tenure, contributing significantly to its financial stability and growth. 

Tommy’s expertise in financial management has been instrumental in ensuring that MnCUN remains a trusted partner for credit unions across Minnesota.

​In addition to his role as Controller, Tommy has been actively involved in the Minnesota Credit Union Employee Benefits Plan and various initiatives to enhance the services provided to credit unions. His efforts have strengthened MnCUN’s financial operations and fostered a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the organization.

​​"Congratulations to Tommy on this remarkable achievement! Tommy embodies teamwork and is always willing to lend a helping hand. We are grateful for his invaluable contributions and unwavering dedication over the past 25 years," said MnCUN President & CEO Mara Humphrey.

MnCUN Trivia Nights in Full Swing

Thank you to the credit unions who have joined us and helped promote Trivia Nights in Virginia, Duluth, and Brainerd. Tonight at 6:00 p.m., join us at Charlie’s Eatery and Pub for Rochester, and don’t miss Trivia Night next Wednesday at Mankato Brewery! 

​
This series of live trivia events serves to bring the message of the credit union advantage statewide. Open to the public and held at local breweries or pubs, the trivia games will tie-in personal financial and credit union-related questions to help spread the advantage to consumers in a fun, relaxed environment. 
MnCUN is partnering with Trivia Mafia to host the events, and will provide signage, promotion, and credit union advantage theme giveaways (CU Advantage bag and proud CU Member button).

Still time to join us! Local credit unions are encouraged to participate by promoting the event beforehand, sending staff teams in logo wear to greet members, provide and distribute credit union information and swag for prizes. A MnCUN staff member will be present at each event and Trivia Mafia will run the game. ​​Each event will run from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and will include a free 60-minute Trivia Game and prizes.
