Prior to the Capitol Hill visits during CUNA GAC, MnCUN will host a legislative issue briefing luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1, in Room 103AB at the Washington Convention Center. Attendees will receive a full briefing on the legislative priorities of the meetings with legislators, as well as any last-minute updates on meeting location or time changes.
The luncheon is free, but we ask that you please register online. Minnesota Credit Union Network staff have recently been in contact with the Minnesota Department of Revenue to raise questions from credit unions on recent changes to state tax codes on withholdings from accounts like IRAs and annuities.

The global pandemic set into motion a series of historically unprecedented economic policies. Massive amounts of liquidity and stimulus from policymakers enabled a fast recovery, but at what financial cost? The side effect of those “easy money” conditions has been 40 year-high inflation that now must be fought through highly restrictive Fed behavior. Balance sheet managers have been left to deal with the resulting large swings in interest rate and liquidity risks. Quickly increasing cost of funds, stubborn loan rates, and ever-tightening margins are just a few of the most common worries for 2023. More than ever, it is critical that credit union leadership take a whole balance sheet approach, as understanding and utilizing wholesale markets (asset and funding) could significantly reduce some of these pressures. Facilitated by Anne Legg, author of Big Data/Big Climb and Founder & CEO of Thrive Strategic Services, this data analytics education series offers tools and a forum to help key stakeholders fill knowledge gaps and launch their data journey with the assets they have at their credit union. * The Data Activation Series will be offered five times throughout the year. This certification program comprises of seven classes, held in hour-long segments, to allow attendees the flexibility of participating in the series while maintaining their role within the credit union.
