Let’s wear our credit union pride loud and proud — and help fuel the next 100 years of impact! Thank you for supporting the Foundation and celebrating this historic milestone with us! Earlier today, the Minnesota Credit Union Network sent a GREAT alert urging advocates to contact Senators Klobuchar and Smith ahead of consideration of the GENIUS Act.
When the Senate returns to Washington next week, it will begin consideration of the GENIUS Act, which would establish a federal regulatory framework for issuing stablecoins. While this is significant in itself, the GENIUS Act is also the first Senate Banking Committee bill to reach the floor in eight years, making it a prime vehicle for a wide range of financial services amendments. One such amendment that could be especially damaging to Minnesota credit unions is Sen. Marshall’s Credit Card Competition Act—often referred to as the Big Box Bailout. This proposal would impose harmful, government-mandated routing restrictions, effectively acting as back-door price controls on interchange fees. We believe it is vital that Minnesota credit unions speak up now. Your Senators need to hear directly from you about how these proposed changes would hurt your operations, and more importantly, your members, who are among the 142 million Americans credit unions serve nationwide. Credit unions across Minnesota are invited to participate in the inaugural Minnesota Cooperative Summit: Cooperatively Building a Better World, taking place July 29–30, 2025, at the University of Minnesota Morris. This landmark event celebrates the International Year of Cooperatives and offers a unique opportunity for credit unions to engage with the broader cooperative community.
Why Credit Unions Should Attend As a proud sponsor, the Minnesota Credit Union Network underscores the importance of this summit in fostering collaboration and innovation among cooperatives. Event highlights include:

The online request form was completed, but we also reached out to MnCUN directly since the timeline was tight and there weren’t any current distributers in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Jeremy from Broken Clock Brewing Co-Op presented two options: personally driving up our order OR helping get a local distributer. In a matter of days both were accomplished!
Jeremy personally delivered 10 cases to our Annual Meeting location and made deliveries to a local distribution partner. So, when delighted members received their can and asked where they could get more, we were able to tell them Westside Liquors! This celebration was a win for our members, a local business, and the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation! Cheers!” -Submitted by Miranda Anderson, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Marketing Want to bring High Yield Pale Ale to Your Community? CFPB Withdraws Three Proposed Rules; Search for a Permanent Director Continues: On May 15, 2025, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) published notice in the Federal Register that it is withdrawing three proposals introduced under the previous administration.
