Minnesota Legislature Adjourns Without Passing a Budget: The Minnesota Legislature adjourned Monday without finishing the state’s two-year budget, passing only 9 of about 20 budget and policy bills.
CFPB Overdraft Case Dismissed: The lawsuit challenging the CFPB’s final overdraft rule has officially been dismissed. The Minnesota Credit Union Network, 17 other leagues and America's Credit Unions joined together earlier this year to file an amicus brief in support of the case. Thank Congress for Preserving the Credit Union Tax Status: Thanks to the thousands of credit union advocates in Minnesota and across the country, the House Ways and Means Committee did not alter the tax status of credit unions in its draft tax reform legislation. We’re thrilled to announce that registration is now open for the second annual Tristate Collaborative Leadership Conference, bringing together credit union professionals from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Montana for two days of inspiration, learning, and connection.
Last year’s inaugural event was a hit—this year promises even more! Join us for a robust agenda focused on leadership, innovation, and collaboration in the credit union movement. 2025 Agenda Highlights Include:
Date: Aug 05 1:00 PM - Aug 06, 2025 3:45 PM Location: JW Mariott Mall of America 2141 Lindau Lane Bloomington, MN 55425 Cost: $449 | Early Bird - July 7 $499 | Regular - Registration deadline: July 29 Whether you’re leading a team, mentoring the next generation, or just beginning your journey, this conference will spark new ideas and empower your growth. We can’t wait to see you in August as we continue to build a collaborative credit union leadership community across our three great states. A century ago, Minnesotans came together with a bold idea: what if financial institutions were built not for profit, but for people and started our first credit union. That idea has stood the test of time—and here we are, stronger than ever, still rooted in cooperation, still growing, still serving. As we mark this occasion, we invite credit unions to gather, share and celebrate Minnesota’s credit union history. The 100th anniversary of the first state-chartered credit union in Minnesota is an opportunity to demonstrate our bold, community-focused spirit to members and non-member alike. Join us! The Minnesota Credit Union Network is pleased to offer resources and opportunities to engage in the celebration all year long:
The Minnesota Credit Union Network Directors Conference will feature speakers on a variety of pertinent credit union topics, opportunities to connect with other Directors, and a cooperative forum to share expertise and experiences.

Lauren Culp, Executive Director ![]() The Minnesota Credit Union Network is excited to continue the launch of High Yield Pale Ale, a limited-edition craft beer, brewed in partnership with Broken Clock Cooperative Brewing, in celebration of 100 years of credit unions putting people first. Even better? A portion of all proceeds will support the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation and financial literacy efforts across the state. This collaboration offers a fun and meaningful way for credit unions to get involved and share the credit union story with their communities. Use this form to connect with Broken Clock about your event. Help Us Get It on Taps and Shelves If your credit union has a business member or community partner that owns a liquor store, bar, or restaurant, we’d love to connect Broken Clock Brewing with them to make High Yield available locally. It’s a great way to support both the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation and local small businesses. Use this form to assist with that connection. Let Members Know They Can Support the Mission Share the story of High Yield Pale Ale with your members. By purchasing this beer, they’re not just enjoying a locally brewed craft beverage—they’re helping advance financial education in Minnesota. The beer is now available on tap and in cans at Broken Clock; and watch this page for a growing list of additional locations it can be purchased. To help mark the official launch, MnCUN and Broken Clock Brewing will host a celebratory kickoff event with local media and community partners to highlight the collaboration and its impact at the brewery on May 22 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Coverage of the collaboration and its community impact will help raise awareness and support for this mission-driven beer.
