The Outstanding Professional of the Year recognizes the notable service of one outstanding credit union professional who has selflessly given time, effort and talent to the support and promotion of the credit union mission and who has gone above and beyond to improve the credit union culture in Minnesota.
The 2026 Outstanding Director of the Year is Brent Rempe, President & CEO of First Alliance Credit Union. As President and CEO of First Alliance Credit Union, Brent Rempe has led transformative growth and deepened the organization’s commitment to community-centered financial empowerment. |
Under his leadership, the credit union successfully expanded its field of membership from five to fourteen Southeast Minnesota counties, launched a full-service mobile branch to bring personalized financial guidance directly into communities across the expanded service area.
Brent has led initiatives such as the All-Staff Training Day focused on empathy and community impact, where employees participated in immersive experiences to better understand the financial challenges members face—strengthening service with compassion and deepening staff engagement in the credit union’s mission.

The Outstanding Director of the Year Award is given to a credit union board member who best represents the credit union spirit through dedication to, and belief in, the credit union movement. The Outstanding Director of the Year is Kenneth Kurth, Board Member of Mayo Employees FCU.
As one of the most seasoned and respected Administrators across Mayo Clinic, Ken leads with diplomacy and approachability that builds trust with others. His over 40 years of service and leadership in numerous roles at Mayo Clinic has provided him seats at tables that have driven Mayo Clinic’s growth and transformation. Ken brings that wealth of leadership, vision for strategy and innovation and shared sense of purpose in caring out our mission to his Board of Director role every day. |
