In 2024, P2P’s will be conducted virtually six times a year with three in the spring and three in the fall. Each session will include a speaker on a hot topic that effects multiple areas of your credit union. We’ll also break into department areas for smaller group peer discussion on how that topic pertains to various teams.
Each session will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm on the dates below. Spring P2P Schedule: March 13, 2024 – AI and Impact on Credit Unions April 24, 2024 – Regulatory and Compliance Hot Topics May 22, 2024 – Open Banking This new format is intended to provide credit union professionals the opportunity to participate in cooperative meetings to network and exchange ideas and provides your teams the opportunity to learn about pertinent topics that prompt additional conversations at your credit union. P2P Subscription Option Available Affiliate and associate credit unions may subscribe to the P2P program through a one-time, annual payment. The P2P subscription will come with a discount code unique to the credit union which may be used by any staff for registration at any of the P2P sessions throughout the year. The Minnesota Credit Union Network is now accepting nominations for its most prestigious awards. Now is your chance to nominate a colleague for the 2024 Outstanding Professional of the Year or Outstanding Director of the Year.
The winners of these awards will be recognized with a video tribute during the Minnesota Credit Union Network's annual conference - ACCELERATE 24, which will take place April 18 &19 at the Mystic Lake Center in Prior Lake.
Nominations for the awards must be received by Tuesday, Feb. 13, by 5 p.m. and on-site video shoots will tentatively be scheduled the week of March 25. Please note that only nominations completed using the online forms will be accepted. Complete information and online nomination forms can be found on the MnCUN website. Fraud Prevention Summit: MnCUN offers this in-person with expert presentations on current fraud with Q&A, preventive and remediation resources, and small group discussions for attendees to share information and resources. Minnesota Department of Commerce Issues Guidance on Banking Cannabis Related Businesses: On January 5, the Department of Commerce (Commerce) issued guidance regarding Financial Services to the Cannabis Industry in collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Revenue (Revenue) and Office of Cannabis Management (OCM). The Minnesota Credit Union Network is pleased to announce that Brian Sherrick, President & CEO of Ideal Credit Union, has been appointed as Minnesota's CULAC Trustee. Sherrick has previously served as the chair of the MnCUN Political Involvement Committee and Vice Chair of the MnCUN Board of Directors and succeeds Dave Boden. MnCUN thanks Dave Boden for his service.
CULAC, the Credit Union Legislative Action Council, is the political action committee (PAC) that supports credit union-friendly candidates running for federal office. Trustees serve as the liaison between their state league and CULAC and are elected to two-year terms. Their goal is to increase credit union involvement in CULAC and political activities. Trustees are also responsible for the governance of CULAC in pursuit of a stronger federal political action committee for all credit unions. For more information, visit the Support CU Advocacy page. Join the CREW Young Professionals for the "Coffee with the CREW" on Tuesday, January 23, at 9:00 a.m. This series focuses on providing credit union young professionals with continued opportunities for networking and collaborating to help further knowledge and professional growth within the industry.

This unique and transformative training provides critical lessons in cooperative principles, credit union philosophy, and development issues, while incorporating challenges credit unions face today. The grants cover the full registration fee for in person training, which includes lodging and meals and will open in Fall 2024.
