According to the NCUA Quarterly US Map Review, Minnesota credit unions ranked highly for key indicators of financial health and viability.
Minnesota credit unions' median fourth quarter growth in membership increased by 0.9% – ranking 10th in the country. Median year over year loan growth was 3.5% and the median loan to share ratio was 75%. Additionally, according to a CUNA and MnCUN survey, 89% of credit unions who responded provided modifications to consumers loans in the form of skip-a-payment or lower interest rates. 68% of credit unions surveyed provided modifications to mortgage loans and fee waivers or reductions. According to the Mid-Year 2020 CUNA Membership Benefits report, Minnesota credit unions provided $172,453,840 in direct benefits to their members during the twelve months ending June 2020. These benefits are equivalent to $92 per member or $197 per member household. Minnesota Credit Union Network Releases Voter Guide
Earlier this summer, MnCUN contacted every individual aspiring to represent Minnesota in Congress, the Minnesota State Senate and the State House of Representatives to ask them their stance on credit union issues. CUNA, MnCUN Support Sen. Tina Smith’s Re-Election Through Digital Ads and Direct Mail Last week, the first in a series of digital ads to support U.S. Senator Tina Smith went live on a variety of social media outlets. The ads are part of a credit-union industry partisan communication to some credit union members in support of Senator Smith’s re-election efforts, done in conjunction with several credit unions, MnCUN and CUNA.

The Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN), via Lockton Companies, reached an arrangement with Guardian Insurance that will allow MnCUN member credit unions to receive discounted rates on ancillary employee benefits including, Basic Life and AD&D, Short and Long-Term Disability, Dental, Vision and others. MnCUN will be hosting a 30-minute virtual meeting next Wednesday, September 30 to provide additional details on the offering and how a credit union can receive a quote. The meeting will start at 10:30 am.
