Network Committees are seeking interested members for appointment. The Network Board Chair will appoint Committee members to serve for one year – from their appointment through the following year’s Annual Business Meeting, taking place during the ACCELERATE conference in April. Facilitates statewide and national awards programs and judges other states’ award program entries. On the national level, the committee coordinates Minnesota’s entries for CUNA’s Dora Maxwell and Louise Herring Awards and the Desjardins Award for Financial Education. On the state level, the committee recognizes individuals through the Professional and Director of the Year Awards. MnCUN Staff Liaison: Julia Miller Political involvement committee
PIC provides input and recommendations on legislative efforts at the state and federal level. Policy suggestions and regulatory roadblocks are brought to the attention of PIC to collectively formulate the Network’s positions on legislation. PIC is also responsible for political fundraising and oversees the distribution of political contributions made to credit union-friendly candidates. Provides input and recommendations on proposed rules from various federal agencies that have the potential to impact credit unions. The committee meets regularly to review proposed rules that are out for comment and determines whether or not a response is necessary. MnCUN Staff Liaison: Dan Le CREW Advisory group
Credit union staff, 40 and under, help brainstorm, plan and facilitate programming geared toward young professionals throughout the year. Meets quarterly for sharing best practices and collaboration. The group is made up of staff who are embedded in financial inclusion efforts in their credit union and community. MnCUN Staff Liaison: Mara Humphrey Women’s Leadership Network Ambassadors
The purpose is to convene Minnesota’s women credit union professionals, discuss credit union issues, exchange ideas, network with neighboring credit union leaders, and share lessons learned with, Global Women’s Leadership Network members worldwide. A subcommittee of the Political Involvement Committee which provides input and recommendations on improvements for the Minnesota state credit union charter. MnCUN member credit unions receive a secure log in to ViClarity's members only website. To access this service, credit unions must designate the appropriate users. CFPB Proposed Rule: Credit Card Late Fees: The Agency issued its proposed new rule today amending several parts of section 1026.52(b) reducing the safe harbor for late fees, from $30 to $8.
NCUA publishes Proposed Rule for Chartering and Field of Membership: Today, the NCUA published its proposed rule draft to improve chartering and field of membership (FOM) Best Data Management Practices: The Minnesota Credit Union Network is providing information on a Data Governance Policy and related practices to maximize data use productivity and enhance policies to prevent fraud. P2P sessions will continue to be held as virtual roundtables, providing open forums for credit union staff throughout Minnesota, for knowledge sharing, resources and connections. At their February 16, 2023 meeting, the NCUA Board approved a proposed rule which would amend the chartering and FOM rules with nine changes intended to improve consumer access to financial services, especially in low- and moderate-income communities and reducing duplicative or unnecessary paperwork and administrative requirements.
