The Minnesota Credit Union Network's 2020 Fall Leadership Conference will be held in person on Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13, 2020, at Madden's Resort in Brainerd. The Fall Leadership Conference features industry experts providing insight and relevant information on top credit union issues. Sessions throughout the weekend are designed for both credit union professionals and volunteers.
With educational sessions and recreation opportunities, this event provides an opportunity to come together with your credit union colleagues for weekend of learning, networking, and fun – all the while keeping your health and safety in mind. Recognizing that it is has been a hectic and uncertain time for credit unions, CUNA has announced they are extending the deadline for the 2020 Awards Program. The new deadline for entries to the Dora Maxwell, Louise Herring, and Desjardins awards is now Wednesday, July 24.
Additionally, credit unions are encouraged to submit for ongoing efforts and projects through July 2020 in order to recognize the extraordinary efforts being taken to serve credit union members in these unprecedented times. CUNA's National Award programs are designed to encourage and recognize distinguished credit unions which demonstrate social responsibility (the Dora Maxwell Award), the credit union philosophy (the Louise Herring Award), and financial education (the Desjardins Awards). On July 17, from 10 am to 11 am, the Minnesota Credit Union Network will host a webinar reviewing the updates to Minnesota statute 45A - Financial Exploitation Protections for Older or Vulnerable Adults.
The statue was revised this past legislative session. The revisions give credit unions additional tools to help protect members from financial exploitation. The revisions also come with requirements. Join us to learn more about these changes.
NCUA and Bureau Release Rulemaking Agendas
The NCUA and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Bureau) recently released their Spring 2020 rulemaking agendas NCUA Seeks Feedback on Modernizing Examinations The NCUA is conducting a study of alternative procedures to modernize its examination program. An Request for Information (RFI) was published last week seeking feedback from credit unions and other interested parties. NCUA to Reinstate Rural District Removed Due to ABA Lawsuit In a letter issued to credit unions on July 7, Chairman Rodney E. Hood announced, “The NCUA is in the process of reinstating the rural districts for 18 credit unions that had these removed due to the ABA lawsuit. " Join Young Credit Union Professionals of Oregon and SW Washington to hear from four amazing panelists to discuss Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and young professionals in the credit union movement during these novel times.
