Minn. Aurora Soccer Club Co-Founder to Speak at Women’s Leadership Network Celebration Event11/8/2022
The Women’s Leadership Network invites everyone to our year-end celebration event. Please join us on Thursday, November 17, from 3:30-6:30 pm at the Jax Café in Minneapolis. The afternoon will include insightful conversation and networking, as well as celebrating the accomplishments of the Women’s Leadership Network in 2022. We are excited to announce our guest speaker will be Elisa Vicuña, co-founder of the Minnesota Aurora, a women-led, community-owned soccer team that plays in the USL W League. 2022 was an impressive inaugural season for the Aurora, finishing the regular season undefeated, winning the Heartland Division, and advancing to the Final of the USL W League playoffs. The team also led the league in attendance, averaging over 5,000 fans per game. Elisa will share the Aurora story, and how they use soccer to bring people together and lift up women and girls from marginalized communities. We’ll have opportunities to discuss and explore our shared values of community, empowering women, and DEI, as we learn from this exciting, new Minnesota organization. Registration is now open and available until Nov. 10. For more information about the Minnesota Credit Union Women’s Leadership Network, visit the group page online. The GAC scholarship was created by the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation to provide financial assistance to credit union staff or volunteers who are members of the Minnesota Credit Union Network and wish to participate in CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference. Scholarship monies allocated to applicants may be used for the cost of the conference registration and to help cover some travel expenses. The Foundation will be offering multiple $2,000 scholarships. Preference will be given to applicants who have not attended GAC, are from credit unions under $100 million in assets, and have shown engagement with MnCUN and credit union advocacy. Applications are now available on the Grant Programs page and the deadline is Nov. 30. With questions contact Andrea Molnau, MnCU Foundation Executive Director.
