The Founder's Award is a highly prestigious award provided to a distinguished individual or organizations who have made amazing contributions to CMN Hospitals. These contributions positively impact and benefit member hospitals, including time, effort, talent, significant personal commitment, or a leadership role. This award is not given out every year – only in special instances. Previous winners include Steve Young (NFL Hall of Famer) and Marriott for being the first corporate partner. Credit unions have been proud partners of CMN Hospitals through CU4Kids since 1996 and have raised more than $200 million benefiting local member hospitals. Member hospitals have used funds to provide both direct financial assistance as well as community-based programs in economic developments. This allows patients to have the needed support while helping put their family’s minds at ease while they are in the hospital. Each dollar that is raised through CU4Kids helps improve the health of kids and allow them the opportunity to grow to their full potential. And they couldn't do it without the generosity of millions of people in the local community. Through these donations, local member hospitals can provide treatments and support patients desperately need today, so that they can fulfill their potential for tomorrow. April 8-11 at Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort in Orlando, FL, credit unions come together to celebrate receiving this year’s Founders Award at Children’s Hospitals Week presented by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals). All credit unions are encouraged to come to this event to rally together around their incredible work in raising critical funds through Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids) helping local member hospitals change kids’ health to change the future. CMN Hospitals honors credit unions supporting their members and the local community. A ransomware attack, impacting over 60 credit unions nationwide, was reported in several national news outlets. The attack is isolated to clients of Trellance-owned company, Ongoing Operations, who provides IT services to credit unions. At this point, we are not aware that any Minnesota credit unions were impacted.
Credit union members may have questions or concerns about their own account safety and security when these news situations may arise. Below are several talking points that can be used when responding to these concerns.

We truly value the important work you do every day for your members, which inspires us to advocate on your behalf to make that job easier. We are also humbled by the kind words we have recently received from several members about the value of being a member of the Minnesota Credit Union Network. “We belong to the Network to gain collaboration, knowledge, and support to run our business. The Network is a valuable resource on regulatory issues, and industry changes impacting our operations. The Network not only educates us on the topics, but keeps us speaking from one common voice in our industry. I love the Network’s ability to hold virtual meetings where the credit unions can sign on and speak to each other on better practices and current issues.” -Phil Kopischke, President & CEO "I find an abundance of benefits being associated with the Minnesota Credit Union Network. As a new CEO of a small credit union, two benefits that have directly assisted our credit union was the availability of Policy Aid and the General Counsel. The guidance of both resources helped tremendously in the success of moving our branch location to a new space and revamping our policy binder. The Network has provided significant value to FCEFCU!" - Caitlin Brama, President/CEO, Farm Credit Employees FCU Thank you for your continued support and trust. Membership in MnCUN and national trade associations ensures your connection to powerful advocacy, expertise, resources, opportunity, and influence.
The theme “Minnesota’s Credit Union Advantage” will illustrate that we’re not just different, but better. The model is better, the experience is better, and credit unions are better for the communities and members we serve. Tactical plans include a new Minnesota Credit Union Directory; Streaming Audio and digital ads, social media content, out of home ads, cooperative regional events, and a “Credit Union Member Day” at the 2024 Minnesota State Fair.
To cooperatively finance this campaign, we are seeking pledges of financial support to the Minnesota Credit Union Awareness Fund. We have adjusted our suggested contributions to reflect the change in strategy and current economic uncertainty. While we encourage credit unions to donate at the suggested level, donations of all amounts or in-kind contributions are welcome. We’ll also break into department areas for smaller group peer discussion on how that topic pertains to various teams. We hope this new format continues to provide credit union professionals the opportunity to participate in cooperative meetings to network and exchange ideas; and provides your teams the opportunity to learn about pertinent topics that prompts additional conversations at your credit union. Each session will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm on the dates below. Topics for our Spring P2P sessions are noted. Please reach out to Xiong Lee if you have topic suggestions for the Fall sessions.
