Credit Union Governance Modernization Act Included in U.S. House Omnibus Bill The MnCUN supported Credit Union Governance Modernization Act is included in the omnibus package of bills unveiled by House leadership Wednesday morning. The bill, from Reps. Tom Emmer, R-Minn., and Ed Perlmutter, D-Colo., would modernize the member expulsion process. The Senate version was introduced last May by Sens. Tina Smith, D-Minn., and Ben Sasse, R-Neb. Rep Emmer addressed the CUNA GAC Conference last week to highlight work being done on credit union issues. Minn. CU Professionals and Board Members Advocate in Washington D.C. for CUNA GAC Last week, nearly 100 credit union professionals and board members returned to Washington D.C. for CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC). During the conference, the delegation met with Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith as well as members of the U.S. House and their staff. Meetings focused on modernizing credit union service, securing data to protect consumer privacy, and enhancing the federal credit union charter to enable credit unions to serve their members and improve their financial well-being.
