In 2021, MnCUN launched two new leadership development opportunities for Minnesota Credit Union professionals looking to further their careers in the movement: the Tristate Mentorship Match and MnCUN Trailblazers Executive Readiness Training. Both programs kicked off in September.
Tristate Mentor Match: 64 participants from three states were selected to participate in the inaugural Tristate Mentor Match - a 12-month formal mentorship program developed in partnership by the Minnesota Credit Union Network, Montana’s Credit Unions and the Wisconsin Credit Union League. The program is designed to build, grow, and support professionals and inspire commitment to a career in the credit union movement. 32 pairs are meeting monthly, supported by a program guide, check-ins from league staff, and additional resources to help maximize the experience for both the mentee and mentor. The Tristate Mentorship Match is sponsored in part by Alloya Corporate Federal Credit Union, Corporate Central Credit Union, and Millennium Corporate Credit Union. Trailblazers Executive Readiness Training: 30 members of the inaugural cohort are participating in the 12-month program designed to accelerate executive level leadership skills and build credit union specific knowledge needed to succeed in our industry. Designed by Minnesota Credit Union professionals – the program is intended to prepare emerging leaders for executive level positions. Topics include Leadership Skills, Credit Union Financials, Credit Union Operations, and Strategic Planning & Growth. Courses have been facilitated by both experts in the field and current credit union leaders. Upon completion, participants will receive a Minnesota Credit Union Executive Leadership Certification. The Trailblazer program is sponsored in part by the Baker Group and Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines. Applications for next year’s programs will open in June.
