The Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund will direct support to mitigate both short and long-term impacts to Ukraine's credit union system and those that look to it for support, including both employees and members. The Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WFCU) in partnership with the World Council (WOCCU), is leveraging their global network to identify the immediate priority areas where funding can be used to support displaced credit union members and staff.
WFCU is launching this fund to send support to Ukraine's credit unions in where it is most needed in the short term as well as the challenges Ukraine's credit union system faces for the long term. The Minnesota Credit Union Foundation has made a $1,000 donation on behalf of Minnesota Credit Unions to the displacement fund. Do you have events planned for Financial Well-being Month or CUNA Youth Month or want to highlight your credit union’s ongoing efforts? April is an opportunity for credit unions to demonstrate their commitment to providing financial education to their members and communities. At CUNA GAC last week, Ryan Donovan, CUNA Chief Advocacy Officer Ryan Donovan shared how improving members’ financial well-being is a core component of credit union advocacy. “Our greatest advocacy advantage isn’t our proximity to lawmakers, it’s the impact all credit unions have on their constituents,” he says. “Improving financial well-being and advancing the communities we serve is core to the credit union mission, and it’s critical to our advocacy work because it is the lens through which we must get policymakers to look when considering our priorities." Credit unions are encouraged to share their plans for Financial Well-being Month or financial education success stories with the Minnesota Credit Union Network by contacting Director of Communications Julia Miller by email by March 28, 2022. If you don’t have plans yet, consider celebrating Youth Month with CUNA’s ready-to-implement resources. CUNA Youth Month

The program is designed to build, grow, and support professionals and inspire commitment to a career in the credit union movement. 32 pairs are meeting monthly, supported by a program guide, check-ins from league staff, and additional resources to help maximize the experience for both the mentee and mentor. The Tristate Mentorship Match is sponsored in part by Alloya Corporate Federal Credit Union, Corporate Central Credit Union, and Millennium Corporate Credit Union. Trailblazers Executive Readiness Training: 30 members of the inaugural cohort are participating in the 12-month program designed to accelerate executive level leadership skills and build credit union specific knowledge needed to succeed in our industry. Designed by Minnesota Credit Union professionals – the program is intended to prepare emerging leaders for executive level positions. Topics include Leadership Skills, Credit Union Financials, Credit Union Operations, and Strategic Planning & Growth. Courses have been facilitated by both experts in the field and current credit union leaders. Upon completion, participants will receive a Minnesota Credit Union Executive Leadership Certification.
